Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.   Luke 24: 46-47

John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance

for the remission of sins.         Mark 1:4

Stream 1:  The Holiness Based Stream        What Went Wrong?

"Therefore, be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect." Mathew 5:48

"...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,..." Romans 3:23

"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5:21

Insight: Inotherwards, We must be perfect to attain the righteousness required to be with our Father God in Heaven - but we cannot stop sinning - So Jesus came to take the wrath of God that we deserved upon himself so that we could be made righteous before God.

Here is how it works: it was through one individual that sin entered the world, and through sin, death; and in this way death passed through to the whole human race, inasmuch as everyone sinned.         Romans 5:12

Rather, each person is being tempted whenever he is being dragged off and enticed by the bait of his own desire. Then, having conceived, the desire gives birth to sin; and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.    James 1:14-15

Therefore, put to death the earthly parts of your nature — sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed (which is a form of idolatry); for it is because of these things that God’s anger is coming on those who disobey him.  Collosians 3:5-6

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.       1 John 2:15

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8

Billy Graham:  Choices

The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

Jeremiah 17:9-10

[ The Temptation and Fall of Man ]

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”   Genesis 3:1

...but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”   Genesis 3:3

For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Genesis 3:5

And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate."     Genesis 3:13

Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”—Genesis 3:22

...therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.   Genesis 3:23

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:

For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God...      2 Timothy 3:1-4

...who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever.    Romans 1:25

My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience.  James 5:10

“Enter by the narrow gate;

for wide is the gate and broad is the way that

leads to destruction,

and there are many who

go in by it.

Because narrow is the gate

and difficult is the way

which leads to life,

and there are few who find it.

Matthew 7:13-14

"Sin is the dare of Gods justice, the rape of his mercy,

the jeer of his patience, the slight of his power,

the contempt of his love,

the scoff of his promise (2 Peter 3:3-4),

and the reproach of his wisdom  (Isaiah 29:16).

And just like the Man of Sin, it opposes and

exalts itself above all that is called God,

showing itself as if it were God."

Ralph Venning, Puritan preacher 1621-1674

Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.

He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.   John 12:24-25
